Help set a Guinness World Record!

The Firefox Community over at are planning “Download Day 2008” for the upcoming release of Firefox 3…

Set a Guinness World Record
Enjoy a Better Web

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

The actual date for downloading and the world record attempt hasn’t been announced yet, but click through to the Download Day 2008 headquarters page where you can pledge support and provide your email address so you’ll get notified when to grab Firefox 3.

Download Day

While on the topic, I’ve already tried out version 3 RC1 and have to say I like it – a lot. It’s much faster than version 2 and uses way less memory – amen to that! If you’re keen to give it a look before the full version ships sometime in June (probably), then I recommend grabbing the Portable Apps version. This can be installed alongside version 2 no problems, won’t mess with any of your settings or add-ons, and as the name might suggest can be installed on a USB flash drive to be used on any computer. Nice. If you like that idea, check out some of the other apps that have been released as portable versions.

Approaching Two

It’s been a while since I’ve thrown up some comments and photos of the little guy – who’s not quite so little these days!

Matt is almost two months off his second birthday and is getting more and more helpful – which is a good thing with a brother or sister for him on the way.

So what’s he up to? Plenty as usual, and always at full speed! Matt has taken to running everywhere and climbing over anything or anyone (including the cat) to get to what he wants – normally while saying “want it. want it!” He loves creche and the other kids there – as evidenced by him frequently reciting his little friends names when he wakes up. He’s also taken to reciting the alphabet and counting – although these are probably not fully understood and simply rope learned from us. Here’s a quick video of part of the alphabet…

On the scary front, he showed me today how to drag a chair across the room to climb up to grab something – seems nothing is safe in our place anymore. All in all, he’s a fun little boy who keeps us on our toes. And needless to say it’s going to be doubly interesting in November when he has to share Mum and Dad with another baby… or will it be October? Preliminary due date is Nov 6 – place your bets…!

Baby Noble 2

Following a successful release of v1, we’re now announcing that development of v2 is well under way!

This early preview was taken on 24 April 2008, around 12 weeks into the build (click through for a larger image).

The release date is currently set for early November, although given that v1 shipped two and half weeks early (much to our surprise), there is a good chance that v2 will follow that same trend…

Stay tuned for updates!
