The Firefox Community over at spreadfirefox.com are planning “Download Day 2008” for the upcoming release of Firefox 3…
Set a Guinness World Record
Enjoy a Better Web
Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.
The actual date for downloading and the world record attempt hasn’t been announced yet, but click through to the Download Day 2008 headquarters page where you can pledge support and provide your email address so you’ll get notified when to grab Firefox 3.
While on the topic, I’ve already tried out version 3 RC1 and have to say I like it – a lot. It’s much faster than version 2 and uses way less memory – amen to that! If you’re keen to give it a look before the full version ships sometime in June (probably), then I recommend grabbing the Portable Apps version. This can be installed alongside version 2 no problems, won’t mess with any of your settings or add-ons, and as the name might suggest can be installed on a USB flash drive to be used on any computer. Nice. If you like that idea, check out some of the other apps that have been released as portable versions.
