For Your Eyes Only

For Your Eyes Only (1981) is the 12th film in the Bond saga.

The pre-title sequence sees Bond visiting the grave of his late wife, followed by a helicopter whisking him away for some sort of emergency, ending up with 007 facing off with the evil Blofeld once again… The main plot of the film has Bond on the trail of a lost ATAC – Automatic Targeting and Attack Communicator – after the spy ship it was on sunk.

In typical Bond style, we’re treated to a number of good chase scenes and exotic locations, including a mountain-top monastery which Bond accesses by rock climbing up a sheer cliff. This film is the first (and only it turns out) not to feature M after Bernard Lee died while preparing for the film.

Overall, the film is very well done – this and The Spy Who Loved Me are definitely the best of Roger Moore to date (two still to come though…) For more info and trivia etc. see Wikipedia or IMDB (who incidentally rate it 6.8/10).
