Small change

Lou threatened to steal all my change unless I got my A into G to get my jars of old coins to the bank… which I did today – cashed in for $86.55!

Actually, since the 5c is going, the total was rounded up to $86.60. Should’ve taken the 5’s in one at a time… 😉

More family greets

Matthew met more of his family this weekend just gone when Nic and Andrew came for a visit.

Being a wiz with a camera, Aunty Nic snapped some more photos of the little guy – a few of which are now in the gallery and up at matthew.noble.gen.nz

The earth doth move

Had a wee earthquake last night in Wellington, nothing too serious and certainly not big enough to move the house off its foundations.

The GeoNet report says it was a shallow magnitude 5.0 quake just north of Cook Strait. I’m just hoping the theory that ‘lots of little quakes ease the pressure and reduce the chance of a big one’ is correct! Time will tell I suppose…

6 weeks and time for jabs

Matthew clocked up 6 weeks with us yesterday, to which he was rewarded with a visit to the doctor for a bunch of jabs!

After passing his WOF (weighing in at 4.49kg), he received his standard 6 week injections, 3 in total. What for? Glad you asked…

DTaP-IPV containing Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis (whooping cough) and Polio
Hib-HepB containing a vaccine against Haemophilus Influenza (which causes meningitis, pneumonia, epiglottis, septic arthritis, bacteraemia, cellulitis, ear infections, sinusitis and bronchitis) and Hepatitis B
MeNZB – a new vaccine for Meningococcal type B New Zealand Strain (the epidemic NZ is currently in) which can cause meningitis and septicaemia

Take that you nasty little viruses! We’re glad to say that Matthew was fine afterwards and has had no side effects bar being a little sleepy. 😉

Hi ho, hi ho…

Off to work I go.

Yup, it’s the end of my annual leave and time to face reality. While the last four weeks wasn’t really a holiday, I can highly recommend a good period of time at home with the new arrival. Pretty easy to choose Matthew over work and lots of fun.

As for a quick update, at the last visit from the midwife last Wednesday he weighed in at 4.2kg, still gaining a good amount each week! Mind you, hopefully the graph tapers off a little to avoid raising a sumo wrestler…

In a weekend of firsts, Lou reckons she caught the first real smile (no, it wasn’t wind you cynic you!), Matthew met his other grandparents Leo and Barbara, and had a most excellent surprise visit from Uncle Mike. We also took him to a restaurant at which he blissfully slept through dinner and the next day he watched us help paint Aunty Jen’s new house.

As always, the pick of the photos will appear at matthew.noble.gen.nz.

Happy Fathers Day

Just a quick post to give a big shout out to my father, John.

Have a good one Dad (and now granddad!)

Here’s John and Matthew at 10 days old…
